Mix 'n Match

A standard concentration game - with some twists!

Match all of the cards within the allowed number of misses.

Scoring: 100 points per match. Extra points for speed and combos (consecutive matches.)

Mind Dash

Chain together all the matches by making consecutive pairs in as few moves as you can. The stack slots on the right tell you how many moves you have to complete the game. Once you miss a pair your move ends. When you run out of moves the game ends.

Scoring: 100 points per match. 500 points to complete the board.

Haystack

Take five seconds to study the cards up-front.

Remember the position of all the cards on the board. We then show you one card at a time, you must recall where that card is on the board.

Scoring: 100 points per match. 500 points to complete the board.

Memory Race

Match like cards to make pairs.

On every miss your nemesis advances. You must clear the board before your nemesis reaches the cupcake!

Scoring: 100 points per match. 500 points to complete the board.

Challenge Games

Each level has a final challenge game. If you pass the challenge you win one jewel of the final award. Win all 4 jewels to complete the award and you win the game! Each challenge game tests your memory until you miss. You must pass at least 5 boards in order to beat the challenge, but don't stop there. Keep playing as far as you can to maximize your points.

Pattern

Repeat the pattern shown. Keep going until you miss. A minimum of 5 complete boards to complete the challenge.

Scoring: 100 points per correct card, 500 points to complete each board, and an additional 500 points every 5 complete boards.

Follow the Card

Keep your eye on the center card. When the movement stops, you must select only that card. Keep going until you miss. A minimum of 5 complete boards to complete the challenge.

Scoring: 500 points per correct card, and an additional 500 points every 5 complete boards.

Repeat After Me

Another repeat the pattern type of game. In this case we will play a sequence. The sequence begins at one and each round we will add one more to the sequence. After the sequence has played you must repeat the sequence in the exact same order. Just repeat after me!

Scoring: 500 points per correct card, and an additional 500 points every 5 complete repeated patterns.

Parts vs. Whole

The target card (first shown) contains several objects. Try to remember everything in this card. Then we show you some cards, you must select the only card that contains an element that was in the target card. You must complete a minimum of 5 boards to complete the challenge.

Scoring: 500 points per correct card, and an additional 500 points every 5 complete boards.

The Cards

Each game and level has a different number of cards on the board, usually more cards in increasing difficulty. Cards are selected at random from the card sets you selected. See Game Options for how to select card sets.

Winning The Crown

You must complete all levels and beat all challenge games to win the Match Master 3000 crown. You can complete the games in any order.

Bonus Score Multiplier

When you make consecutive matches you increase a score multiplier. The way to really maximize your score is to pair up matches and increase the score multiplier.

Bonus Card

In some games there is a special card on the board with a move counter on it. You earn a bonus score for matching that card. The counter decreases each time you miss or make a match that does not include that card. Match this card quickly for extra points.

Game Tips and Memory Techniques

There are some important tips and memory techniques to make you a better player.

Become familiar with the objects and faces in the cards.

Give each image a meaningful nickname and repeat to yourself when you reveal the card.

Play the boards in methodical patterns that will help you remember image locations.

Imagine sounds, smells, and emotions to associate with each card – this will help with recall.

Take your time – the game is about limiting misses.

There are techniques – search the Internet for the Method of loci or Memory Palace. These methods were practiced by the ancient Greeks and Romans at a time when memory was an important outward signal of intelligence and learning. In modern times, memory contest winners employ a variety of techniques to enhance recall including the memory palace. These techniques involve visualization and creating multiple associations with objects which use a variety of regions of the brain including those that have to do with spatial learning.
